Back in the Echo by archidave on Flickr.
he ‘Echo’, a garden Pavilion at Kings Weston house designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in about 1723. Although now roofless the fabric of the building is still in good order thanks to restoration a few years ago by the Bristol Buildings Preservation Trust.
The statue however has fared lass well. The one in this shot is in fact a cardboard cut out that I created to return the now-lost sculpture for just a short time. It vanished shortly after the Second World War when it was photographed toppled. Shortly after there is rumour that it was stored in the basement of the main house, but all record has since disappeared along with the statue itself.
